The decision to grant Temporary Protected Status for the Philippines is being discussed now in Washington D.C. Please call and write to the Department of State in support of TPS Now!

TPS creates an opportunity for undocumented and out of status Filipino immigrants in the U.S. to better contribute to the greatly needed typhoon relief and rehabilitation effort by offering protection from deportation, authorization to work, and the possibility of overseas travel. Below are instructions to call, email and write a letter to the Department of State.

To call dial: 202-647-4000 and press 4 and say “I would like a line to Secretary Kerri’s that will accept my comment regarding Temporary Protected Status for the Philippines,” then use the script below to leave your message:

“Hello. I’m (say YOUR NAME), from (say YOUR CITY and STATE). I am calling to urge your office to recommend to DHS to designate Temporary Protected Status for the Philippines. 4.1 Million Filipinos are displaced due to Typhoon. We should help the relief effort by halting Filipino deportation. The Philippines cannot absorb deportees from the U.S. Thank you.”

To send a letter:

Here are the letter writing directions:

1. Create two copies of a personal crafted email or letter addressed to both A/S Richard and Sec. John Kerry ASAP

2. Using example letter and personalize with stories and your own language

3. If possible have a leader of your organization sign-off on it

4. If possible put it on letterhead, add a signature, and attach as a pdf. or doc. File

5. Put “URGENT REQUEST FOR TPS” in the subject line

Demand/Request for TPS for entire country

NAFCON urges your office to recommend to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) be designated for the entire country of the Philippines.

Explanation of why TPS is important to you and/or your oragnization

4.1 Million Filipinos are displaced due to Typhoon. We should help the relief effort by halting Filipino deportation. The Philippines cannot absorb deportees from the U.S. Thank you.

Reiterate Request

Given these reasons, I respectfully reiterate the request for your office to recommend to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) be designated for the entire country of the Philippines.
